The Basic template gallery includes Respond to story mentions. Open it from New automation → Browse templates, then choose Basic or search for “story”.
Respond to story mentions
Send a thank-you message, offer or link when someone mentions you in their story. Someone tagging your account is already opening a conversation; the template gives you a starting response.
What it arrives with
- A Story automation using Mentions me.
- A saved thank-you DM to customize.
- The same message and optional engagement controls as the quick Story editor.
What to change before publishing
Rewrite the message. A thank-you can include a discount code, the resource they mentioned, or a question that keeps the thread going. Replace placeholders with your real offer.
Review variations. If you add alternate copy, make sure every version still promises the same thing. Use {{username}} where a handle fits naturally.
Check the next step. A paid plan can collect contact details or add a follow-up, but only add a question when its purpose is clear.
Other story interactions
For an emoji reaction or text reply, create a new Story automation and choose Reacts or Replies. The quick editor watches the interaction type rather than selecting one story from a grid.
