A contact allowance and a message allowance describe different things. Before choosing an Instagram automation tool on price, write down the conversation you actually want to send. This guide compares a simple campaign and a longer follow-up journey so you can evaluate AP3K and ManyChat on the same work.
First, count people and successful actions separately
Imagine a Reel offering a downloadable guide. Two hundred people leave the requested keyword. Each receives a public reply and one DM containing a link. That is 200 people and 400 successful AP3K actions: 200 public replies plus 200 direct messages.
Now add a second automated DM for every person. The audience is still 200 people, but the campaign uses 600 AP3K actions. If some people do not qualify for the next message, count only the messages actually sent. These are planning examples, not observed conversion results.
- Unique people: how many different people interact?
- Public replies: how many successful automated comments are sent?
- DMs: how many successful automated direct messages are sent?
- Additional steps: do openers, reminders or other messages add actions?
How ManyChat measures usage
ManyChat’s current public plans use active contacts. Its official guidance defines activity around messages sent or received during the billing period. Plan availability and legacy subscriptions can differ, so use the pricing page and the terms shown in your own account.
Do not compare “500 actions” with “500 contacts” as if they were the same allowance. A conversation may produce several messages for one person. Channel requirements, AI access and inbox seats also affect the plan you need.
How AP3K measures usage
AP3K counts successfully sent automated public replies and DMs. Failed and skipped sends do not consume that action allowance. Free includes 500 actions per month, one Instagram account and five active automations.
Pro includes 5,000 monthly actions, 500 AI replies and three Instagram accounts. Business includes 20,000 monthly actions, 2,000 AI replies and ten accounts. The monthly prices are $9 and $29 respectively. Review the pricing page for the full feature list and annual billing options.
In the first example, 400 successful actions fit within the Free action allowance, provided the campaign only uses supported free features. The 600-action example exceeds it. A campaign can require a paid plan because of its features even when its action count is small.
A free plan is useful only if it supports your workflow
If you need a basic keyword comment followed by a saved DM, start with that workflow and test it. If you need AI public replies, contact collection or a custom branching flow, check paid-feature eligibility before you design the campaign around it.
Free AP3K users can preview AI public-reply samples; publishing an automation that uses AI replies requires a paid plan. Preview access should not be confused with permission to run the AI campaign on Free.
Use this checklist before switching providers
Choose one representative campaign and record its actual requirements. A low starting price is not a complete comparison if your campaign also needs several accounts, multiple channels or a specific integration.
- Write the trigger, public reply, opener, final DM and follow-up steps.
- Estimate both unique people and successful outgoing actions.
- Check Instagram accounts, AI allowance, lead capture and branching requirements.
- Check the provider’s renewal terms and any overage rules in your account.
- Rebuild and test one campaign before moving the rest. Do not leave overlapping rules active in both tools.
Choose based on the work you need to do
AP3K is built for Instagram response workflows. ManyChat can be a better fit when a campaign needs a wider channel mix or its specific team tooling. Compare the complete customer journey and the operational requirements, then review cost using the same expected audience and message sequence.
After launching, replace estimates with your actual usage. Review delivery failures, eligible contacts and destination results separately. A delivered message is not automatically a click, lead or purchase.
Turn the next comment into a conversation.
Choose a clear trigger, write a useful response and try your first AP3K campaign.
