Separate an Instagram Contact From a Sales Opportunity
A stored contact means the system has recorded an interaction; it does not prove the person is qualified or ready to purchase. Calling every contact an opportunity makes reports look stronger while weakening planning. Define the transition with observable evidence.

The decision to make
Choose a qualification rule suited to the offer, such as a relevant need plus an agreed next step. Keep the source event visible. Do not require unnecessary personal data simply to make the record look complete.
A practical workflow
- 1Step 1Define contact, qualified inquiry and opportunity separately.
- 2Step 2Record the evidence that moves a record forward.
- 3Step 3Keep rejected or incomplete cases distinguishable in reporting.
Worked example
A person who requests a free checklist is a contact. A person who explains a suitable project and requests a proposal may be an opportunity under the team's documented rule.
What to avoid
Do not relabel AP3K's captured leads as closed sales. Delivery and interaction counts are useful, but they represent different stages.
Where AP3K fits
Deliver the item promised in the Instagram post before adding unrelated friction. AP3K can respond to an eligible comment with a configured public reply, DM or both, and keep the interaction visible for follow-up. Further qualification can happen through the supported inbox workflow or your own destination form. Do not describe an unimplemented CRM, branching questionnaire or off-site conversion integration as a native feature.
How to judge the result
Measure conversion between defined stages and reasons for rejection. Stable definitions make month-to-month comparison more meaningful.
- The first response fulfills the original request.
- Qualification questions support a real next decision.
- The team distinguishes a recorded contact from a qualified opportunity.
