Avoid Keyword Collisions Across Instagram DM Campaigns
GUIDE is easy to remember, which is exactly why teams reuse it. The problem begins when several live campaigns interpret the same request differently. An overlap audit makes those conflicts visible before customers report confusing messages.

Inventory the rules that can hear the same comment
List each live automation's account, media scope, keyword, action, and destination. Start with rules using Any post because their scope may intersect with several specific campaigns. A broad GUIDE rule and a narrow GUIDE rule on a new Reel deserve explicit review.
Do not assume the platform will choose the campaign you intended. Inspect the application's actual behavior and simplify the configuration so the customer journey does not depend on undocumented precedence. Campaign names should identify the resource, not merely repeat the keyword.
Separate offers with scope or vocabulary
You can keep the same keyword on different posts when each campaign is restricted appropriately. Alternatively, use resource-specific keywords such as MENU and AUDIT. The choice depends on whether customers are likely to encounter several offers and whether the same resource is intentionally shared.
Avoid asking an audience to memorize arbitrary codes simply because the campaign list is disorganized. A readable keyword with a clear scope is usually easier to operate than increasingly complicated keyword naming conventions.
Retire old rules before cloning new campaigns
Duplicating a configuration can carry over an old destination or overly broad scope. Review every copied field before activation. If an offer has ended, decide whether the old post should receive an updated resource, a truthful availability message, or no automated delivery.
Pause a conflicting campaign deliberately rather than deleting configuration you may need to inspect. Keep a brief change record so another team member understands why the keyword no longer behaves as it did last month.
Test the ambiguous case, not just the happy path
Leave a new matching comment on a post where the scopes would previously have overlapped. Check the received messages and available activity. A single intended response is the customer outcome to verify; a clean campaign list alone is not proof.
- Every shared keyword has an explicit scope owner.
- Every resource has one intended delivery destination.
- Copied campaigns have been checked for inherited settings.
- Retired offers have a documented treatment for future comments.
